  • Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteers are made up of individuals, families, church groups, schools, social service organizations, and businesses.  Each of these partners help us deliver meals directly into the homes of our clients every day.

    • All deliveries take place between 11:00am and 1:00pm.
    • Meals are prepared at 13 different hospitals and nursing homes around Winnipeg.
    • Volunteers pick up their route from one of those centers and deliver hot meals to clients living in that neighborhood.
    • One route consists of about 15-20 meals and takes up to 2 hours to deliver.
    • Meals are delivered city wide Monday – Friday.  Saturday and Sunday deliveries are limited to the Health Science Centre and Concordia Hospital areas.

Volunteer Spotlight – Bruce and Ardelia

P3icture 002 Bruce and Ardelia Burrow love to play Bocce, spend time with their grandchildren, sit on various committees for their church, and volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Always with a cheerful greeting and a cute story, Ardelia’s personality fills a room as surely as it fills the hearts of Meals on Wheels clients. Just ask the team of volunteers from St. Andrew’s River Heights United Church, many of whom Ardelia has personally recruited and scheduled over the past 20 years!

    Welcoming Children of all Ages

Meals on Wheels welcomes children of all ages to deliver meals and smiles to those in need in your neighborhood. We encourage parents and grandparents to show children that your time really can make a difference, whether it is once a month or once a week.

Volunteer Spotlight – It’s About Family

Labrosse_Family8 year old Trianna is happy to show you the “Community” badge that she earned in Brownies for her volunteer efforts with Meals on Wheels.  She has been delivering meals with her parents since she was 6 years old.  “I like helping senior citizens,” she says, “I feel good inside.”

Parents Tina and Sean feel good about being able to find a volunteer project that works for their whole family.  It was important to them to find an opportunity to teach their daughter about giving back to her community.
